Part 4: Hannam University, The Schreiner University Delegation to South Korea.

After our meaningful time at Keimyung University in Daegu, the third stop for the Schreiner University delegation was Hannam University in Daejeon. Hannam is a long-standing friend of Schreiner, sharing a profound Presbyterian heritage that binds our institutions together.

Hannam University was established in 1956 by American Presbyterian missionaries. It is a place where the noble legacy of Rev. William Linton is deeply engraved. Rev. Linton was a Southern Presbyterian missionary who arrived in Korea in 1912 at the young age of 21, dedicating his entire life to education and mission work. Based on this shared foundation, Schreiner and Hannam have built a strong friendship over the years through active student exchanges and summer cultural programs.

Unlike our visits to other universities to establish new partnerships, this visit was a significant occasion to elevate and renew our existing cooperative agreement, which has been built on mutual trust since 2014. We met with President Dr. Seung-chul Lee and shared our future visions for both institutions.

During the campus tour, we were deeply moved by our visit to the Hannam Christian Exhibition Hall. This space was recently established to honor the university’s founding philosophy, allowing us to reflect on the sacrificial spirit of the missionaries and the firm heritage of faith that connects our two universities.

Additionally, we visited the Campus Innovation Park, which is the first urban high-tech industrial complex established within a university in Korea. We were impressed by the forward-looking infrastructure driving modern academic collaboration and industry-academic innovation. This model of achieving technological innovation on a solid foundation of Christian values aligns perfectly with the vision of Schreiner University.

We are confident that this partnership renewal, which places our long-standing friendship on even firmer ground, will provide our students with even greater opportunities to grow as exceptional global leaders.

Next, we will share the details of our final university visit at Seoul Women’s University in Seoul. Please look forward to Part 5!
