Part 5: Seoul Women’s University: The Schreiner University Delegation to South Korea.

After our productive time in Daejeon, the Schreiner University delegation returned to Seoul to visit Seoul Women’s University (SWU). This visit marked the final university stop of our official tour and provided a beautiful conclusion to our academic partnerships.

Founded in 1961 by Presbyterian leaders, Seoul Women’s University was established with a vision to provide quality education for women based on Christian principles. The university is widely respected for its focus on character education and leadership development, most notably through its renowned Bahrom Character Education Program. This emphasis on building moral integrity and global awareness aligns perfectly with Schreiner University’s own commitment to character building and holistic education.

During our visit, we had the honor of meeting with President Dr. Youn-sun Lee. Our institutions signed a five-year agreement focused on global academic engagement and digital learning. This partnership opens exciting new pathways for our students, including opportunities to utilize online offerings such as SWU’s Basic Korean course.

As shared in our initial proposal to the International Affairs division, we envision a collaboration that extends beyond traditional student exchanges. We are exploring joint research initiatives in areas such as social justice and ethical leadership, fields where both Schreiner and SWU excel. By integrating SWU’s expertise in character education with our community-based service learning, we aim to nurture the next generation of globally-minded leaders.

Our time at Seoul Women’s University reaffirmed that when we share a common foundation of faith and a commitment to excellence, the possibilities for innovation are endless.

While this concludes our university visits, our journey continues. In the next post, we will share our meaningful visit to the PC(USA) Korea Mission Office and the impactful work of the Young Adult Volunteer (YAV) program. Stay tuned for Part 6!
