Building on the commitment made during last March’s presidential delegation visit to Seoul, Schreiner University and Soongsil University officially finalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) through an online signing ceremony on July 2. This milestone formally establishes a promising institutional partnership between the two universities.

Founded in 1897 by Rev. William M. Baird, an American Presbyterian missionary, Soongsil University carries a remarkable historical legacy. During the Japanese colonial period, it chose voluntary closure rather than comply with the requirement to participate in Shinto shrine worship, demonstrating an enduring commitment to its Presbyterian identity. This legacy resonates deeply with Schreiner University’s own heritage and educational mission.

In recent years, Soongsil University has also emerged as a leader in engineering and AI driven education. With a shared historical foundation and a strong vision for future innovation, Soongsil University is an outstanding global partner for Schreiner University as both institutions look toward expanding opportunities for collaboration.
